About Alpasión

The Beginnings of Alpasión:

A Global Tapestry of Entrepreneurs

The origins of Alpasión trace back to 2009, when a group of 20 high-achieving senior executives and entrepreneurs from across the globe came together at the prestigious INSEAD campuses in Fontainebleau and Singapore.

Participating in the Challenge of Leadership (COL) course, these visionaries were not just pursuing typical MBA accolades but were on a quest for deeper, personal success. This course was about understanding one’s path to achieving life goals, not just academic ones.

Each member brought a unique backstory to the table, rich with successes, trials, and aspirations. Through weeks of shared stories and introspective discussions, a bond formed—one that extended beyond the classroom’s walls. It was during these sessions that the seeds of Alpasión were sown, stemming from a common passion for wine and a quote that resonated deeply with the group: “Live life to the fullest… it’s the journey that counts, not the destination.”

From Vision to Vineyard

As the course progressed, evenings spent enjoying fine wines and engaging conversations sparked the idea of turning these shared passions into a tangible project. The concept of founding a winery emerged, transforming casual chats into a serious exploration for the perfect vineyard location. The search led them to the Uco Valley in Mendoza, Argentina—a region famed for its breathtaking landscapes and exemplary viticulture conditions.

Choosing an 85-hectare land at the foothills of the Andes, the group was captivated by the natural beauty and the potential of the untouched terrain. The high altitude, combined with a unique climate, promised perfect conditions for cultivating distinctive, robust grapes. Notably, Alpasión is proud to be a member of the Chacayes GI (Geographical Identification), which is rapidly gaining importance within Uco Valley due to its exceptional terroir and the unique mountain flavors native to the area.

Cultivating Success and Sustainability

The inaugural wine, a Malbec named Alpasión—a blend of 'alma' (soul) and 'pasión' (passion)—debuted in 2012 to critical acclaim. The commitment to craft didn't stop at wine sustainability and organic practices were integral from the start, reflecting the group's dedication to ethical and environmental considerations.

Today, Alpasión proudly showcases a diverse portfolio of 11 distinct wines, with plans for further expansion. Our circle of investors has grown from its original members to include 70 global contributors, each bringing a unique perspective that enhances the depth and richness of our project. Alpasión is more than just a vineyard—it stands as a powerful testament to shared dreams and the enduring strength of deep connections. This collaborative spirit not only enriches our business but also reflects our commitment to producing exceptional wines.
